Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust (SIDIT) provides $20,223 grant to Myra Canyon Tourism Promotion Project
Kamloops. Jim Thomson, Chair of the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust (SIDIT), announced today SIDIT’s investment by way of a $20,223 grant to the Myra Canyon Tourism Promotion Project to help fund information kiosks, signage and brochures.
“Our mandate is to help grow and diversify the economy of the Southern Interior of British Columbia” states Mr. Thomson. “SIDIT is pleased to support the Myra Canyon Tourism Promotion Project. As an internationally recognized tourist attraction, Myra Canyon makes a significant contribution to the regional economy”.
Presentation of the cheque is planned for 11:00AM, May 27 at City Hall, Kelowna.
In attendance will be Kelowna Mayor Sharon Shepherd, member of the SIDIT Board, SIDIT, CEO Ron Baker and representatives from the Myra Canyon Trestle Restoration Society.
SIDIT is a Public Trust created by the Province of British Columbia with a $50 million allocation to support economic development in the Southern Interior. Governed by a 13 member Board of Directors representing local government and the private sector, SIDIT focuses on opportunities that demonstrate measurable and sustainable economic benefits.
