SIDIT is pleased to announce 3 new Provincially appointed Board members: Tom Christensen – Vernon, Kerri-Anne Thomas – Invermere and Ronald Hovanes -Oliver.

Annual Strategic Plan Meeting- September 25, 2009
The Board and staff met for the annual strategic planning session.  The new 2010 -2011 plan will be available in late November.

QHR Technologies – financing October 2009

QHR Technologies Inc. (QHR) is a company specializing in software designed to improve the efficiency of professionals in healthcare and other markets. The company currently offers an integrated Human Resource Information System and an Electronic Medical Records solution.  Headquartered in Kelowna, QHR has focused on the business development of promising Canadian technologies to meet the needs of emerging or under-developed markets and is currently one of the largest technology companies in the Southern Interior.  The company's forecasted growth and profitability will make it an anchor company for the technology sector in the Southern Interior. QHR will be active in attracting additional capital & talented people to our region and newly developed products will serve Canadian & International markets.

Community Futures North Okanagan – Grant $29,822

The overall goal of this project is to support rural economic diversification of the Okanagan Valley economy through the development of a new on-line business service that will connect businesses to one another, connect the business organizations together, and connect the existing business services for the purpose of: supplying and purchasing, providing businesses assistance services such as human resource information, peer (cluster) support, labour market training, and offering inbound investors an opportunity to view the Okanagan business community.

News and Events

Meetings were held on Oct 15th in Cranbrook and Invermere with CEO Luby Pow, Deputy Minister Don Fast and Michael Track, Executive Director from the Ministry of Small Business, Technology & Economic Development, Bill Bennett, MLA East Kootenay, Minister of Community Development and elected and business leaders from the areas.  The objectives of the meetings were to meet with key stakeholders who influence economic development in the Kootenay region to understand their priorities, challenges and resources for achieving their economic development goals, to become more familiar with investment and trade potentials within the area, particularly in areas of the Ministry’s focus (in Asia, Europe and US) and to discuss how best the Ministry could work with the partners in the region.

Roundtable discussions were coordinated by BDC and the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce.
