Annual General Meeting

SIDIT’s second Annual General Meeting was held at the St. Eugene Resort, Cranbrook on June 5, 2008.  The meeting was open to the public and several groups used the opportunity to engage the Board in discussing funding initiatives. 

Annual Report

SIDIT’s Fiscal 2007 Annual Report was released on July 9, 2008.  A copy of the report can be downloaded from SIDIT’s website - www.sidit-bc.ca/documents.html

Highlights of the year include funding commitments of $9.6 million, including a million multi-year commitment to education as well as strategic partnerships with Credit Unions, Southern Interior Innovation Fund and Community Foundations.

Additionally, the SIDIT Board in June gave approval to 6 new projects representing $570,000 in total funding. Details will be released as funding awards are made.

Education Awards

Payments of $196,000 to College of the Rockies and $316,000 to Okanagan College have been made under the Education Awards Program announced in March 2008. 

 Under this program SIDIT committed $5.4 million over 3 years to support trades, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship awards delivered through Thompson Rivers University, Okanagan College, Selkirk College and College of the Rockies as well as BC Innovation Council. Read more...

Community Foundations

$75,000 was awarded through SIDIT’s Pilot Flow-Through Funding Agreement with Cranbrook & District Community Foundation, Phoenix Foundation of the Boundary Communities and Central Okanagan Foundation in support of projects demonstrating both economic development and social benefits to the communities. Southern Interior Innovation Fund

In June, SIDIT released $1 million of a $ 2 million committed investment in the Southern Interior Innovation Fund (SIIF).

SIIF was created to make investments in companies involved in technology and high growth opportunities throughout the Southern Interior. In addition SIIF provides mentorship to its investee companies by drawing on the wealth of experience, professional contacts and knowledge of its investors and Board of Directors. Read more...
